Privacy notice
How KIA Digital Learning looks after your child's information. Your child's school runs this platform and is responsible for the data on it.
What we keep
- Your child's name, student code, class, grade and, if the school entered it, gender.
- Their learning: lessons opened, quest steps finished, scores, badges, streaks and league position.
- What they write and type in lessons, and the mistakes they repeat, so teachers can help.
- When they join a class session or sign in with their student ID, with the device and network address used.
- Your child's name, class, grade and teacher come from the school's own student records, and are kept up to date from them.
- Your name and email, so you can follow your child's progress.
Spoken answers are turned into text to be marked. The platform does not keep the recordings.
The AI English teacher
- If your school has switched on the AI English teacher, what your child types to it is sent to the AI service the school chose, to write a reply. The platform does not keep the conversation.
- Before anything is sent, messages are checked: phone numbers, email addresses, home addresses and web links are never passed on.
- If a message suggests a child may be hurt, scared or unsafe, their teacher is told straight away and sees a short part of that message.
- Each child has a daily limit on AI chat.
Who can see it
- Your child's teacher and the staff of your child's school campus.
- Platform administrators, only to run and support the service.
- You, as a parent, for your own child only.
- Classmates see only a first name and last initial on the weekly league board.
We do not sell data or show advertising.
Your choices
- See it. Sign in to the parent portal and choose "Download data" on your child's page.
- Erase it. Ask the school to erase your child. Their profile, progress, work, badges and parent link are deleted for good.
- Correct it. Ask your child's teacher to fix a name or other detail.
How long we keep it
Data stays while your child is a student at the school. A student who is removed is held briefly in a recoverable bin in case of a mistake, then erased. Ask the school for its exact retention periods.
Keeping it safe
Staff accounts are protected by strong passwords, administrators also by an authenticator app. Each campus's staff can only open their own campus's students, and changes made by staff are recorded.
